Player Name: Izzy
Character Name: Po
Canon: Kung Fu Panda

Canon Background: Wikipedia Link

AU Background: The events that made Po the Dragon Warrior happened as shown in the first film, but the effects were confined to the Valley of Peace, which in the Imperial Saga setting is a small isolated valley in the north of Lerrian. The masters of the Jade Palace serve as the valley's protectors, and various village leaders administer the day to day government.

While the events at Gongmen City did happen, Po was not the warrior of Black and White that was defeated by Shen. The Valley of Peace was too isolationist to be concerned with the machinations of outsiders. But with events as they are, it won't be long before their way of life is irrevocably changed. The Masters of the Jade Palace decided to send an envoy, and who better to represent them than the legendary Dragon Warrior?

Personality: Po is an outgoing, enthusiastic guy, if a little overeager. His first love always was, and always will be, kung fu, to the point that he's an honest-to-goodness fanboy. Name a kung fu master of the world, he can tell you their style, their weapons and every major battle they ever fought. Anyone showing great skill at martial arts will earn a heaping helping of hero-worship from Po, and will likely be peppered with dozens of questions about their fighting style and adventures.

He's also quite a bit smarter than most people give him credit for. He's a very fast learner, especially when it comes to fighting techniques and strategy (also, kung fu master trivia). He has a fondness for using flowery metaphors in his trash-talk, but he's...not very good at it, which tends to have unintentionally funny results.

"My fist hungers for Justice!"

[Stomach growls loudly]

"...That was my...fist."

On the other hand, he's not very street-smart, having a very sheltered upbringing. He'll trust just about anyone who's not an outright enemy completely until that person is proven untrustworthy. He's far more a panda of action than a panda of contemplation, and this often leads to him rushing into situations before knowing the full implications of his actions. This also means he has all the tact of a hunk of tofu. He's also very eager to please his friends and those he admires, and even more eager to avoid disappointing them. He'll often lie to avoid looking weak when things aren't going his way rather than admit he needs help. He's often plagued with self-doubt, and has a bad habit of overeating when he's upset.

Combat Style: Improvised kung fu. He doesn't have a set style when it comes to his kung fu. He thinks on his feet and uses the situation to his advantage. His style is far from graceful, but at the same time he's far faster than anyone would expect someone of his size to be. He also uses his bulk to his advantage, even occasionally using his oversized belly as a weapon in and of itself. His size also gives him an advantage in defense; it takes considerable force to penetrate his bulk, and has demonstrated immunity to even powerful nerve strikes (though they do tickle like crazy). Most of the time he fights bare-handed, but he doesn't shy away from using anything handy as a weapon should the situation require.

Kingdom or Faction: None. He's from Lerrian, but hasn't sworn any formal allegiance to a kingdom.

Primary Role: None. He's definitely more of a "wandering monk" type than any specific role.

Tarot Cards: The Hermit (The Past), The Fool (The Present), Strength (The Future)

Title: Dragon Warrior

Artifacts: None.

Setting Considerations: The Valley of Peace is a beastmen retreat far north of the city of Alilany, nestled among the mountains in the north of Lerrian. It was founded centuries ago by the turtle beastman Oogway, who wished to retreat from the world to find strength through inner peace. There he founded the fighting style known as kung fu, and began to attract many beastmen disciples and their families. It eventually grew to a sizable settlement that surrounded Master Oogway's school, and in turn he and his students protected the valley from trouble from both outside and in. Master Oogway died peacefully of old age only a few months ago, and his teachings were passed on to his greatest student, a red panda known as Shifu, who continues the legacy of kung fu to this day.

Questions:

You are about to embark upon a grand journey. What do you carry in your satchel?

Po grins and takes his pack from his shoulders, setting it down with a thump. "That's easy! I just embarked on a grand journey, so I just gotta look in here! Let's see..." He begins to rummage. "Um...radishes, carrots, dried noodles, bamboo...bamboo's really good. Tasty, lasts a long time and packs nice and light! Um..." He gives a shifty look. "Monkey's almond cookies don't tell him I borrowed them okay?"

He clears his throat and continues rummaging. "Oh! Flyers for my dad's noodle shop." He presents one with a painting of himself and the phrase, "DRAGON WARRIOR NOODLES AND TOFU! ASK ABOUT OUR TOFU DESSERT SPECIAL! Franchise opportunities available, contact Mr. Ping, Valley of Peace."

"Here, you can keep that one. Oh, and some pictures of my dad, and my Furious Five action figures! You know, for...um. Kids! Kids love kung fu action figures!" They're totally not his. Honest. Really.

Your liege has called upon you to perform a task of great importance. Upon what do you rely to complete it?

"Well...Master Shifu sort of did that already." Po takes out the crystal he was given. "He told me that this meant the world was reaching out to the Valley, and that it was time for the Valley to reach out to the world again." He stares at the crystal, doubt filling his eyes. "So...here I am. Reaching out and...tapping the world on the shoulder." He laughs nervously. "Hey world! It's me Po! I'm from the Valley of Peace! Um...we say hi!" He shakes his head and puts the crystal away. "Man. Diplomacy's a lot harder than kung fu," he sighs.

"Oh! What do I rely on? I'm...not sure. Shifu says I should do what my heart says is right. And you know...that's never led me the wrong way before. So...I guess my answer is that...I'm relying on my heart."

What does your presence bring to your kingdom?

"Well. I think that's obvious, don't you? I'm the Dragon Warrior! I bring the kingdom its recommended daily allowance of vitamin awesome."

Everything you love and held dear has been taken from you in the blink of an eye. What do you do?

"I'd get it back, of course! Defeat the bad guys! Feet of fury! Dragon fist! Tiger claw stance! Whoooooaaaaaaa! Take back what's been stolen! Rescue the hostages! Oh yeah. Justice has come for evil, and justice is a Panda!" A great deal of mock kung fu accompanies this speech, and many imaginary villains are heartily trounced.

What are your aspirations?

"I just want to make my dad and Master Shifu proud."
